Happy 2019!

Happy New Year everyone!

If the end of the year was the time for reflection, the beginning of the year brings with it a new vigour to achieve greater or new things.

There are mixed feelings when it comes to New Year goals and resolutions.

Some are for it, some are against it. Some feel that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Some feel that you should go with the flow.

Some believe you should only have one or two main big goals to work towards. Some believe you should have several mini goals, one for each category i.e. family, career, friends, health, etc.

Some say you shouldn’t tell people what your goals are because, what if you fail to achieve them? Some say you should share so that you have more reasons (and accountability) to achieve them.

Well, I for one love writing things down (hence, uh, this blog), so I’m gonna write down some of my goals for the new year.

1. Write, write, write

As I shared in the previous post, I want to blog more consistently this year. Not only is it a way for me to challenge myself to think of more content to share, it is also to push myself to keep writing. Writing is a craft, and if I want to be a better writer, I have to keep writing. Therefore, expect to see at least one blog post from me every week!

Besides writing blog posts, I also want to pursue creative writing. So, one of my goals is to write one short story every month.

GOALS: 1 blog post every week, 1 short story every month

2. Read, and read some more

I used to be that girl in school who loved nothing more than to read. I could read 3-4 books per week! I loved immersing myself in different worlds through books, walking in the shoes of all sorts of characters. Last year, I decided to read consistently again, and this year, I’m going to start by aiming to read at least 1 book per month.

GOAL: 1 book every month

3. Learn, and keep learning

Last year I was fortunate to have been able to do two writing courses with Australian Writers Centre. I also did one course from Masterclass on writing with James Patterson. And, I picked up a lot of watercolour tips and tricks from SkillShare as well as YouTube.

I am starting my 2019 by signing up for the annual membership with Masterclass, so that I can access even more classes. I am extremely excited about this, because I can’t wait to hear from the masters of various fields – writing, acting, singing, photography, etc!

There are a lot of more courses that I’m eyeing, and I really hope I’ll be able to do them this year!

GOAL: Expand my skills and mindset through courses

My secret wish for the new year

Well, since I’m sharing it here it’s not so secret anymore is it? 😉

My secret wish is to be able to write a book, start a business, and pursue writing as well as acting in one way or another. These are not exactly time-oriented though, and I’m not really expecting to achieve them this year. In fact, I don’t even know how or if I will achieve them. But these are constantly pulling at my heart and occupying my mind.

It’s all still a big question mark, but I will trust in God’s timing and ways.

More than all the goals and wishes however, I really want to remind myself to treasure and prioritise the people in my life this new year. My husband. My children. My family. My friends.

What is life without them? At the end of the day, relationships are the most important and most precious things in life. Without them, I am but an empty shell in a lonely world.

Above all, I want to walk closer to God and avail myself to His calling. He has been faithful, and I want to be too.

What do you hope for in 2019? Let’s rise up and conquer the mountains before us, and water the flowers along the way. 🙂

Happy New Year!

Love,

Natalie
