My wardrobe must-have

Once upon a time, I had a little girl, and that little girl was chubby and cute and sweet. I mean, she had a bit of a temper, but that’s how all babies communicate, right? Anyway, as I was saying, she was nice and sweet and cute…

Until she turned three.

Then, she kissed me and turned me into something I never wanted to become – a nag.

Sigh! Every day I hear myself nagging and scolding Amy, and even I am sick of hearing myself. But I can’t seem to stop myself! And it doesn’t help that she would sometimes do something on purpose just to invoke the naggy response from me argh! Parenting experts would tell me that that means whatever I’ve been doing or saying is not working and it’s time to take it to the next level.

But at this moment, while she is napping, let me just switch off my mummy mode and talk about something else totally unrelated: jeans!

I am a jeans girl. I can wear jeans everyday and be happy. I practically live in jeans. Jeans is basically my life. Did I mention that I can wear jeans everyday and be happy?

It’s amazing when you think about it. I mean, they are just jeans. But then again, they are never just jeans. The cut, the feel, the style, the colour… they all make or break the pair of denim!

One of the things I love about jeans is that you can wear them on for any occasion. You can dress them up or dress them down, or even dress in between! Jeans are so versatile. And they do not restrict movement. (very handy for someone who has to chase a preschooler and tend to a baby)

I still remember when I was much younger; back in primary school, my friends were all in the jeans game already but I had yet to join the scene. And naive me thought that there’s no big deal it’s just pants and I’m OK with my own skirts and pants.

Oh Nat.

Ever since I owned my first pair of jeans, I’ve never looked back. Skirts and pants may come and go but my jeans will stay forever.

As much as I love jeans though, I must admit that it can be a little difficult to get a perfect pair that checks all the boxes: soft, stretchy, comfortable, flattering and stylish. Sometimes it seems as though we got to choose one or the other.

But bring out the gong because I have found one that I really love from Levi’s! (this is NOT a sponsored post)

Oh, look who came to join me for my OOTD shots.

I got photobombed by my daughter.

And she totally dethroned me from my spot.

My little cheeky girl. Even though she has turned me into the nagging monster, she has also made me laugh out loud a lot. This girl has got spirit. She is strong-willed and smart, and will push me and test me and challenge me. But she is also funny and cute and smart. And she’s only three years old.

I keep reminding myself that, yes, while their characters and personalities start forming and cementing at three, and I should very well start putting my foot down and instilling some discipline in her, she is only three! Just three years in this world. She’s a little kiddo.

Sometimes I really need to just let loose and let her be little.

Look at her cute face! She was singing her nursery rhymes all the way as the hubby snapped these pictures for us, totally oblivious to the camera and totally enjoying her little world.

Anyway, ahem, back to my OOTD shots please…

It was with a lot of self-control that I bought this pair of basic jeans instead of getting a distressed or ripped one. I really really really love distressed jeans! I think distressed jeans give so much more character to the jeans (and naturally, the person wearing it).

But I wanted to have a basic one first, since I had bought a number of ripped jeans back in Malaysia. It’s been a long time since I had a non-ripped one haha.

I got mine at Levi’s Outlet at Harbour Town Melbourne at 50% off. Such a good deal right? I was so ecstatic, I even broke out into a dance of some sort…

What’s your wardrobe staple?

Love,

Natalie
