I love children’s picture books. I can spend a whole lot of time browsing shelves with picture books at the bookstore. And, I tend to buy picture books that I like (as though I am the intended audience!). But it’s a win-win really, because my kids normally like what I buy (ahem, mama has good taste), and also, since I am the one who usually has to read for them anyway, I get to enjoy the book myself too!
I thought: I cannot bear this world a moment longer. Then, child, make another. – Madeline Miller, Circe
When I picked this book up, I had no idea what it was about. I had seen it on a few Bookstagrammers that I follow, and the synopsis seems to indicate a fantasy type of story, and, it was on sale at a very good price at Kmart.
I have recently decided to start buying physical books again, instead of using my Kindle. There are a few reasons to this. Firstly, I still feel that e-books are somewhat cold. Convenient, yes, but cold and not as personal as I’d like it to be.
Reading is such an important part of life, no matter your age, but even more so for young children. I like how J.K. Rowling put it: “I do believe that something very magical can happen when you read a good book.”
Crazy rich asians. Just the title was enough to make me laugh. How could I not pick this book up?? Plus, I’ve been seeing recommendations for this book everywhere, and I was looking for something light and funny to read. So I got this book, not really knowing what to expect.
